DIY Spring Greenery to Liven up the House

I’m sure many of you are ready for Spring, especially those of you in the North East. Here in Arizona, it is the perfect weather at this time of year but I do wish there was more of a season change. I really miss coming out of winter and feeling the hint of Spring.

A couple of weeks ago, I found this lovely bowl at Goodwill. I immediately grabbed it off the shelf because I loved the lines of it so much.

The bowl is cast iron and so heavy! Since I bought it, I have been trying to find a place for it. Now it has a home and is decorated for Spring.

Last night I took a quick trip to the craft store and picked out some papier mache and styrofoam balls. Then I picked up a bag of moss and found this awesome mossy chicken wire “ribbon”. I love this ribbon.

Starting with the papier mache balls, I painted them with Americana acrylic paint in Buttermilk and let them dry.

Then I wrapped the “ribbon” around the ball and wired the ends together.

The sides didn’t quite meet so I worked the wire into an interesting shape.

Once those were done, I painted glue all over the styrofoam balls and attached the moss. I worked the moss around and pressed it into the ball.

This was a fun quick project that brought some Spring life into the house! Plus it was fun making a mess even though the clean up stinks. The moss went all over the place.

Check out this post to see how I made the rabbit sitting next to it. Another messy project but a lot of fun to make too!
