Tear Drop Knotted Hanger

Technically I guess this is macrame since it is knots, but they were such plain knots I didn’t feel like I was macrame-ing. My daughters gave me a cute little terrarium for Mother’s Day and it is very fragile. I didn’t want to keep it on a table or counter for fear of it getting knocked off. I had seen hangers on Pinterest that looked like they were made specifically for the vessel it was going to hold and wanted something like that.

I made this from the bottom up to get the design I wanted. I started with a crown knot and then began tying two strands of cotton yarn together to look like this.

I knotted it basically like a fishing net except I left an opening for the front of the terrarium. For the opening, I knotted three strands together to keep a large hole in front. I separated them back into two threads at a time to close the opening. If you have any questions let me know and hopefully I can explain it better.

I eventually had to keep the terrarium in it while I was finishing the knots. Let me tell you, I wish I had waited to put the succulents in it until afterwards but I had put them in it before I even knew I was going to make this hanger.

I love that it turned out exactly how I was hoping it would.
